Is dropping a year to attempt NEET again really worth?

The answer to this question is not simple “Yes” or “No”. It depends on the situation the individual is in. But we see a lot of students taking this decision just to avoid traveling and study MBBS Abroad. While this is understandable to some extent the student and parent should be aware of the reality. As we see, the cut-off marks are jumping year after year and presently the cut-off for any reservation category is not less than 520. Over the years we see more and more students repeating NEET and this has raised the Cut off marks. In this scenario, the student should think twice before taking a decision to drop a year. If the student has missed getting a seat just by few marks then he/she can try to make another attempt. If not, it is not advisable to take a drop and waste the year. As it is medical studies take many years of effort to complete PG and Super Speciality and hence wasting 1 year at this stage is not a good decision. The following picture gives the prediction done by Mediseats Abroad and the actual cut-off for the year 2020 in Tamil Nadu Counselling.

Alternatively, the student can think about pursuing MBBS in Abroad. There are a lot of countries offering the MBBS program at a very reasonable budget and it will be wise to enroll in a good university with the advice of an education consultant. The budget for these Universities ranges from Rs.20 lakhs (which includes Tuition Fee/Hostel Fee/Admission Fee & Visa processing charges) to Rs.60 lakhs. The main countries that are very popular for MBBS  abroad with Indian students are Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, the Philippines, and Bangladesh. While choosing the University the students should look for their past history and overall reputation, experience in English medium teaching, safety and security, popularity with Indian students, etc.
